Baseball
Goal: Give our athletes the opportunity to experience and participate in youth baseball.Guidelines: We play two (2) full innings per game so each team has the opportunity to bat and field twice. Each player will be assigned a ‘buddy’ (volunteer) that will assist them during both batting and fielding. Batting: Each inning consists of the entire team batting through the lineup. Every batter is “safe” when they hit and will round the bases as their teammates hit, eventually scoring a run. The last batter of every inning “always” hits a home run in order to clear the bases. Each athlete will either be slow pitched to or use a tee. The umpire will utilize a tee after multiple unsuccessful attempts at slow pitch in order for the athlete to get a hit. Fielding: When fielding the entire team will take the field as designated by the coach. We encourage positions, but realize this is not always possible with our athletes. Some athletes use gloves, some do not, it is up to the individual athlete and whatever they feel comfortable with.
Community children and volunteers serve as ‘buddies’ to assist the players Schedule/Teams: We try to limit team size to around 12 with a cap at 15. Realize depending on registration and other constraints team size may increase. We attempt to have at least 2 coaches per team. Games are all played on Saturday mornings. Game times will vary, but we attempt to get all of our games done around noon on Saturdays. Exact schedules and times will be posted and distributed through coaches once teams have been assigned. |
