MLS Players Give the Shirt off Their Backs

Once again, soccer’s most famous athletes are putting aside their differences on the field and joining FC Dallas team captain Pablo J. Ricchetti to help make a difference in the lives of children. This year marks the second-annual Pablo J. Ricchetti All-Star Jersey Raffle, in which soccer fans will have a chance to win one of 22 framed jerseys. In addition, all raffle tickets will be reentered for a chance to win a David Beckham jersey.

Spearheaded by Ricchetti, the purpose of the raffle is to promote awareness and support for the Miracle League of Frisco, a sports league for children with special needs and Mi Escuelita, a preschool that teaches English to at-risk children. Some of the jerseys included in the raffle are: Cuauhtemoc Blanco of Chicago Fire, Juan Pablo Angel of NY Red Bulls, Landon Donovan of LA Galaxy, Kenny Cooper of FC Dallas, Freddie Ljunberg of Seattle Sounders, Pavel Pardo of Club AmC)rica, Darren Huckerby of SJ Earthquakes, Dwayne DeRosario of Toronto FC, Claudio Suarez of Chivas USA, and of course, Pablo J. Ricchetti of FC Dallas. The drawing will be on October 1, 2009 at 6 p.m. via live radio broadcast on ESPN Deportes AM 1540. The first 22 names drawn will have the opportunity to select the jersey of their choice, preceding the grand prize drawing for the David Beckham jersey. Raffle tickets can be purchased at every FC Dallas home game as well as at the Cotton Bowl on September 30 during the doubleheader, which features FC Dallas vs. New England Revolution and Mexico vs. Columbia. Raffle tickets are also available through the Frisco Soccer Association http://www.friscosoccer.org and Soccer City located at 6616 Main Street in Frisco.
