BASEBALL

Goal: To provide a supervised, safe environment for our athletes to have fun experiencing and participating in two levels of youth baseball competition: regular and competitive.

Games are all played on Saturday. Exact schedules and times will be posted on this page and distributed through coaches once teams have been assigned. We try to limit team size in Regular League to less than 10 players. Unified teams are kept at 12 – 15 players. Depending on late registrations and other constraints, team size may increase.

We will play all games at Bacchus Park in Frisco, TX. The park is located at 13995 Main Street, Frisco, TX 75035 (west of Independence Parkway).

LEAGUE INFORMATION

Our Regular League is for our athletes that most benefit from having a Buddy present. In Regular League, we are very focused on getting each athlete engaged, but we do not require that they operate independently.

Community students and volunteers serve as Buddies and each player will be assigned a Buddy to assist them as needed [to the extant needed] during both batting and fielding.

We play two (2) full innings per game so each team has the opportunity to bat and field twice.

Batting: Each inning consists of the entire team batting through the lineup. Every batter is safe when they hit and will round the bases as their teammates hit, eventually scoring a run. Each athlete will either be slow pitched to by an umpire or use a tee (at the request of the parent or the discretion of the umpire).

Fielding: When fielding, the entire team will take the field, positioned by the coach. We encourage positions, but realize this is not always possible with our athletes. Some athletes use gloves, some do not, it is up to the individual athlete and what they feel comfortable with.

The Unified League is our competitive league and it is where our more independent athletes play. Unified does not employ Buddies and while coaches are present on the field with the team, the athletes are expected to operate independently.

In Unified we count balls & strikes, we keep score, and the athlete is expected to bat, run and field without a Buddy present. The players are pitched to by their coach.

After the close of Registration, a Skill Session is held for all new players and existing Regular League players interested in playing in the Unified League. Players will participate in hitting and fielding drills with Unified coaches to affirm that Unified is a suitable fit for the athlete.

There are two divisions within the Unified League:
• Unified I is for ages 13 and up
• Unified II is for athletes up to age 12

The athletes age in a given season is their age on the final scheduled game day of that season.

A player over the age of eleven (11) *can* be considered for participation on a Unified I team if the player demonstrates capabilities at the skills session equal to those of athletes already participating on a U1 team (as decided by the participating U1 coaches) and the coach and parent agree that the athlete should participate in U1. The parent will be required to sign a waiver and final approval by the Vice President of Leagues is required.

Our Unified teams usually practice once a week, with the practice time being set by the coach.

Note: Some rules (such as the run limit per inning, which can vary based on the size of the rosters on game day) can be adjusted subject to agreement by the coaches and umpire.
